We’re working with a growing UK engineering business developing advanced electronic systems used in real-world defence and mission-critical applications.
Following continued investment in their engineering capability, they’re looking for several Senior FPGA Engineers to join the team in Southampton.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll be involved across the FPGA development lifecycle, working on technically challenging products involving areas such as video and image processing, high-speed data, signal processing and embedded systems.
You’ll be joining a highly experienced engineering team with the opportunity to take real ownership of technical work, contribute to design decisions and support the development of less experienced engineers.
What you’ll be working on:
- FPGA design and development using VHDL
- Developing and verifying FPGA and SoC-based systems
- Working with Xilinx devices and associated development tools such as Vivado
- Digital signal processing, video/image processing and high-speed data applications
- FPGA simulation, verification, testbench development and debugging
- Hardware/software integration and working closely with embedded software and electronics engineers
- Taking designs through development, integration and test
- Contributing to technical decisions and helping mentor more junior engineers
They’re particularly interested in engineers with strong commercial FPGA experience rather than somebody who has only used FPGA technology academically.
Experience within defence, aerospace, radar, communications, video processing or another safety/mission-critical environment would be beneficial, although the underlying FPGA capability is the most important thing.
You’ll be joining a business investing heavily in its UK engineering capability, with experienced FPGA engineers already within the organisation and a strong pipeline of new product development.
The role is hybrid and based from Southampton, although there may occasionally be travel to another UK engineering site.
Due to the nature of the work, candidates will need to be able to obtain UK Security Clearance.
