AWS DevOps Engineer & Kotlin Developer – 100% remote (UK based only)
I’m working with a small but rapidly growing, multinational software house who are on a mission to revolutionise the airline booking industry to recruit an AWS DevOps Engineer with strong Kotlin Development skills.
They don’t mind whether you have specialised in Kotlin Development or AWS DevOps but we need someone who brings strong skills in both disciplines.
The focus of the role will vary depending on projects and could be 100% DevOps when building new client environments or possibly up to 75% Kotlin development when projects are in the BAU phase so we need someone who is happy to move between both skillsets. They do not feel they have enough DevOps work to keep someone busy full time and hence the need for Coding skills as well. When not involved in DevOps activities you will be writing code in Kotlin for their API based systems for some of the biggest players in the airline industry.
As a DevOps Engineer you will be looking to continuously improve their Microservices based environment using DevOps processes and tooling, building and deploying Cloud Infrastructure and ongoing maintenance of Cloud services and Security improvements. They have an established DevOps process built by their existing Software Development team which involves AWS Cloud Platforms, CI/CD piplelines, all environments are provisioned using Infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and a container based approach using EKS / Kubernetes.
As a Kotlin Developer you will collaborate in defining, building, iterating and testing core products including building new features for their API based products.
This will be a Mid-level role so we are looking for someone with 5 years Industry experience with a mix of roles as a Kotlin Developer or DevOps Engineer but you must be able to demonstrate skills in both disciplines to be considered. Java experience on the Spring Framework will also be considered.
They are a small company with an established product that is starting to be implemented by some of the big names in the airline industry so are expected to scale quickly. We need someone with a flexible approach who is used to working autonomously and taking ownership of projects from end to end.
Their modern tech stack includes Java, Spring Framework, Kotlin, PostgreSQL, AWS, Microservices, TypeScript, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, APIs – JSON / REST, SOAP and XML.

- Strong Java and Kotlin serverside development experience
- Good experience of DevOps processes and tooling
- AWS Cloud Services
- Terraform
- Containerisation – EKS, Kubernetes, Docker
- Good knowledge of SQL, PostgreSQL ideally
- You're collaborative and keen to work in start-up environment
- You're a keen technologist keen to stay up to date with new and emerging technologies, continually learn and use a range of programming languages
